one. good evening, everyone, i'm frank somerville. >> i'm heather holmes in tonight for julie. a large crowd greeted the democratic front-runner. he touched on healthcare, income inequality, and climate change. sanders promised to defeat president trump saying the trump administration is quote undermining democracy. he said on day one, he would reverse trump administration executive orders on immigration. >> we in our administration will not have federal agents snatching babies from the arms of their mothers. we will not be throwing one point, sanders was briefly interrupted by topless protesters who were removed from the rally. animal rights organizers demand

he cut ties with the dairy administration. the importance of super tuesday when california and a dozen other states make their choices. >> looking ahead to super tuesday, how important is it for your team to do well in this state? >> this is california. last i heard, this is the largest state in america. it's the state with more delegates. obviously california is enormously important. and i'm just very, very proud that we have thousands and thousands of volunteers who are out every weekend. every weekend, we're knocking on a hundred thousand doors. i think that's unprecedented. we're going to work as hard as we can to win this state, because the candidate who wins this state is in a very strong position to defeat the most dangerous president in modern america history. >> homelessness is a major issue. what do you tell bay area voters about the importance of addressing it? >> tonight, unbelievably, in the richin world, 500,000

americans, including 30,000 mer shelters. that is immoral, that is wrong. on top of that, 18 million families are spending half of their income on housing. that is insane. our proposal is to build 10 million units of affordable, and low income housing to deal with the homeless crisis to make sure that working families don't get forced out of their homes through gentfication. so this starts as a very serious issue. >> you were critical of mike bloomberg. he thinks he can buy this race. but he is rising in the polls. are you concerned? >> mike bloomberg, like anyone else, has the right to run for president. but i don't think democracy is about a billionaire buying an election. especially somebody who has a record like he does, instituting when he was mayor in new york city, instituting a racist stop and frisk policy. absolutely disgraceful. this is a guy who said, one of
6:03 pm
the richest people in america, we should cut social security, and medicare, and medicaid. this was a guy who was not sympathetic to even raising the minimum wage. not sympathetic to raising taxes on the rich. he may have all the money in the world, but at the end of the day, i do not believe his money is going to elect him president. >> how do you attract some of the voters who have been supporting some of your more centrist counterparts? >> let me just say, that is a very fair question. i think among virtually all of our supporters there is an understanding that while we have differences as democrats, our differences pail compared to the differences that we have with donald trump. i have said, and i think probably all of my opponents have said in the that we're go who it is, to make sure we defeat the most dangerous president in the
6:04 pm
modern history of this country. >> senator, thanks for your time. >> michael bloomberg is rising in the polls, despite not being on the ballot in the first four states. he needs one more state, or a national poll putting him at 10% to qualify for that debate. early voting is underway in nevada, where caucuses are held on saturday. voters go to the polls in south carolina. that's where joe biden is polling in first place. >> he does have to win the south carolina primary. not just do well. he has to win. >> recent polls in nevada show elizabeth warren, tom steyer, pete buttigieg, and amy klobuchar all knotted up for third rrow is the deadline to revote on march 3rd. this is the third party california will be a part of super tuesday, and the first time since 1996, that the state
